During my youth, I frequently tuned in to the show Laverne & Shirley—a timeless sitcom that etched itself into the hearts of many. And among the cast, the unforgettable portrayal of Shirley Feeney was brought to life by none other than actress Cindy Williams. However, it is with great sorrow that we acknowledge Cindy’s passing earlier this year, a loss that struck deeply within the hearts of those who admired her. Williams died of a “brief illness” in Los Angeles on January 25, according to a statement released by her children, Zak and Emily Hudson. “The passing of our kind, hilarious mother, Cindy Williams, has brought us insurmountable sadness that could never truly be expressed,” the statement reads, per AP. “Knowing and loving her has been our joy and privilege.
